We have had the pleasure of working on several large projects over the years. Below are a few of most recent and notable projects

DurationJuly 2012 to October 2014

Project Scope:

  • Started project as a small contractor responsible for the removal of woody species and maintenance of a small portion of the overall Heartland Transmission Line.
  • Later awarded the access and maintenance of the entire transmission line.
  • Due to excellent performance we were awarded the reclamation of the entire transmission line right of way.

Challenges and Achievements:

  • Were able to work without incident in complex work area where multiple contractors were working simultaneously.
  • Were able to accommodate extremely high demand to provide access to multiple contractors under very short notice and tight timeframe.
  • Were able to provide a high level of quality in all facets of work to ensure landowner/ client satisfaction.
  • Adhered to strict requirements essential in meeting environmental responsibilities from client as well as governing bodies.
  • Were able to accommodate equipment, manpower and material demands with excellent project management and outstanding communication/ mediation between all contractor and client requirements.
  • Were able to aid client in innovative problem solving to reduce overall costs associated with the project.

Project TypeMowing, chemical vegetation control, rut repairs, erosion repairs, snow removal
Duration2008 to 2038

Project Scope:

  • Long term project to include the chemical vegetation control and mowing of the right of way of the Anthony Henday Freeway from North of Highway 14 to Yellowhead Trail West.
  • Also includes special projects offered by client as per demand.

Challenges and Achievements:

  • Have been able to work in a high hazard work area (high traffic volumes) without major incident.
  • Have been able to create an effective management plan to bring area of extremely high levels of prohibited noxious weeds under acceptable control
  • Have been able to create an open communication strategy with adjacent operations and governing bodies to collectively solve vegetation issues.
  • Have demonstrated that we are able to work with little to no supervision from client.
Project NameTransportation Utility Corridor
LocationUtility corridor surrounding the entire Anthony Henday Freeway
Project TypeMowing, chemical vegetation control, right of way repairs/debris removal
Duration2011 to Present

Project Scope:

  • Started this work as an aid to Alberta Transportation in cleaning up weed notices they were receiving from the City of Edmonton and Strathcona County.
  • Currently has evolved into a full mowing program with some chemical vegetation control, debris removal and right of way repairs.

Challenges and Achievements:

  • Have been able to work safely in an extremely unpredictable terrain (high vegetation with many hidden hazards).
  • Have been able to guide client in creating a more proactive approach in vegetation management to reduce backlash/complaints from governing bodies and adjacent landowners.

LocationAll primary and secondary highways from Jasper Park boundary to west of Edmonton and to north of Grand Prairie; Saskatchewan border to North of Fort McMurray
Project TypeChemical vegetation control, mulching
Duration1998 to 2016

Project Scope:

  • Multiple contracts with Lafarge (formerly TSM), Alberta Highway Services, Ledcor, Carillion
  • Responsible for the chemical vegetation control programs as outlined by contract maintenance inspectors.
  • Includes vegetation control of prohibited noxious, noxious, and woody species.
  • Includes additional mulching of overgrown woody vegetation as per request.

Challenges and Achievements:

  • Have been able to vastly improve overall control of prohibited noxious and noxious weed infestations.
  • Have been able to greatly improve sight distances where mulching has occurred.
  • Are able to work alone with very little client interaction.
  • Have been able to work closely with governing bodies to ensure most effective integrated management strategy is in place.
  • Actively complete quality checks to ensure excellent coverage has been reached.
Project NameSuncor Meadow Creek, Firebag and Lewis OSE Winter Porgrams
LocationSouth of Fort McMurray
Project TypeWinter lease and access building
Duration2009 to Current

Project Scope:

  • Working under Suncor directly we are responsible for opening all leases and accesses by Argo and snowcat so that drilling rigs can access them once sufficient frost levels have been met.

Challenges and Achievements:

  • Have been able to work on this site directly for Suncor by meeting all stringent safety requirements (not required to work under a prime contractor).
  • Have several operators with extensive snowcat experience ensuring work is completed ahead of schedule and under budget with little supervision.
Project Name Western Alberta Transmission Line (WATL)
Location From Genesee Power Plant (Sunnybrook) to Crossfield
Project Type Land Reclamation, debris removal, mulching, seeding, weed control, fencing and culvert removal,  repair and installation
Duration February 2015 to December 2015

Project Scope:

  •  Reclaim the land, to the same or better condition than it was in before it was disturbed in order to erect the first 737 structures of the Western Alberta Transmission Line.
  • Work with area landowners and our client to ensure that our reclamation methods and strategies aligned with theirs.
  • Mulched and removed log decks, mulch vegetation, decompact & seed where necessary and control weeds.
  • Remove, repair and in some cases replace culverts to either remove or rebuild required roads and accesses.
  • Re-build and ground fencing.
  • Work with Environmentalists to ensure bird and aquatic life was preserved.

Challenges and Achievements:

  •  We maintained a core group of staff to ensure that our work was completed in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • We developed strong relationships through communication with landowners, counties, subcontractors, environmental coordinators and our client to ensure ultimate project satisfaction.
  • We were able to accommodate equipment, manpower and material demands with excellent project management.
  • We maintained a strong safety presence and safety record.
  • We were able to assist our client with innovative problem solving to reduce overall costs associated with the project.
